SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
The main focus of Offline Journal is documenting interesting contemporary photography being made in and of Wales.
Articles featured in the two issues of Offline Journal published April & October each year will usually fit around the broad theme of each issue and, consequently, I will usually approach photographers directly with their work in mind. However, I’m always interested in being introduced to new talented photographers and their work and happy to consider photographs for inclusion in the Journal, supplements or the monthly email Newsletter. Whilst images, ideas or themes may not always be immediately appropriate, I’m very happy to get back in touch with photographers if ideas or images submitted previously fit with a future opportunity.
IMPORTANT - Please read
All submission proposals must start with low resolution photographs.
By submitting any photographs for consideration and/or publication in Offline Journal or its printed supplements you are truthfully asserting that you are the creator of, or own copyright to, said photographs or have permission from the copyright owner to submit them. You will be granting Offline Journal a non-exclusive license to use the photographs in their submitted (digital file) form, subject to re-sizing to fit Offline Journal’s layout, for publication in the print and on the Offline Journal website for as long as printed issues are available and the website exists online. You are also granting Offline permission to promote your work by using your photographs on its Social Media channels alongside Offline Journal branding - this also applies to any photograph selected for the cover of the printed Journal and/or supplements.
I look for a variety of contributors to Offline Journal - photographers and writers interested in photography - from different backgrounds. Again, all submission ideas must start with low resolution photographs - I don’t accept or read unsolicited manuscripts or article outlines, either electronically or in writing. A small set (no more than ten) of low-res images first please via email (offline.journal@gmail.com) or an online file transfer service such as WeTransfer.com which will provide an email receipt. Where the set requires context, ideally include captions and dates in individual image metadata and provide a brief single paragraph description of the project/work. The form below MUST be submitted before sending any low-res photographs to me.
I normally respond to all enquiries within a few days.
As a small, self-published Journal in its early years of building a sustainable subscriber base, Offline currently has no budget to pay for submissions and/or work featured. I hope this will steadily change in the near future. However, each contributor receives two copies of the issue of Offline Journal in which their work is featured as a small token of thanks.
