THE VALLEYS: REFLECTIONS

Following two years of planning, THE VALLEYS—a major exhibition celebrating the visual arts in and of the South Wales Valleys—opened in National Museum Cardiff on 25 May 2024.
Amongst the many artworks on show in several gallery spaces were an impressive number of photographs spanning many decades, and made by photographers from Wales and others visiting Wales from around the world.
Shortly after the exhibition opened, Offline Journal approached several of the living photographers and invited them to record a short audio piece reflecting on one of their photographs included in the exhibition that, collectively, would form an audio-visual catalog of their contribution after the event. I’d like to thank the photographers who responded by recording their own image story and supplying the photograph to accompany their audio.
