CLWB FFOTO opening show 1 March

This Saturday 1st March, St Davids Day, will see the opening of CLWB FFOTO’s first photography exhibition in Newport.

Roger Tiley will present a selection of his work titled BLACK COAL IN THE VALLEYS to run until 12 April 2025.

The exhibition will open 6:30pm - 8:30pm on Saturday with Clwb Ffoto’s Marc Lewis and Justin Rossiter on hand to welcome Roger, open the new show and speak with attendees on the future of the new gallery space and darkroom in the centre of Newport.

The opening event is free to attend - all welcome. See you there!

DAVID HURN TALK / Newport

The upcoming Newport Festival of Words 2025 has Magnum photographer David Hurn included in their speaker lineup.

Hurn will talk with photojournalist Glenn Edwards (EYE Festival Director and former student on the original Newport Documentary Photography course) about his work and latest book ‘On Reading’ published in late 2024.

Newport Festival of Words 2025 runs 20 - 23 March at venues across Newport City Centre.

The next event will run from 12 noon until 4pm and I’ll be announcing the guest speakers in coming weeks.

Again, photographers are welcome to bring along a few of their own self-published photography zines or books to offer for sale on the day. And the ever-expanding ‘box of zines’ will again be available to view and/or accept new additions to continue building the collection of creative photography zines from across Wales and beyond!
