FFOTON WALES
Founded in late 2014 by photographer Emyr Young and graphic designer Brian Carroll, Ffoton Wales has been an ongoing Podcast (one of the earliest from Wales) dedicated to promoting talented photographers in, or associated with, Wales.
Inspiring professional and amateur photographers alike, Ffoton's in-depth conversations explore the professional careers and practice of photographers working in the many genres of contemporary photography.
In addition to Ffoton's audio podcast, it also hosts a YouTube channel with short films and video segments, and maintains a presence on social media platforms such as Instagram and Bluesky. Ffoton has previously supported the Welsh photography scene through exhibitions, social meetups, zines, and free participatory initiatives such as Ffoton's #portraitcymru and #urbanwales tags on Instagram.
Twelve years on, Ffoton continues to keep a close eye on emerging photography talent across Wales. Whilst it would be impossible to speak with everyone identifying as a ‘photographer’ today, the founders continue to identify talented practitioners with strong bodies of work to interview and add to the Ffoton archive - an important record of contemporary photographers across Wales.
