Chris Tancock
 PSYCHOGEOGRAPHICAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Chris Tancock strives to keep moving his photography forward through intense investigation and study of just a few projects that typically run over several years.

Based on the Pembrokeshire coast, he describes his approach to photography on his website as follows:

I AM A PHOTOGRAPHER OF CAREFUlLLY DEFINED HABITATS RITUALISTLY REVEALED OVER A PERIOD OF 5 YEARS
WORKING WITHIN A RADIUS OF 5 MILES OF MY HOME I CREATE PHOTOGRAPHIC BOOKS
I AM COMMITTED TO EXTENDING THE AESTHETIC OF A PHOTOGRAPHIC SYNTAX
BY THE USE OF MANY PHOTOGRAPHS TO CREATE A SINGLE NARRATIVE
I TRY TO CONVEY MEANING THROUGH
A CONTEXTUAL ENVIRONMENT OF PEOPLE PLACES AND MOMENTS IN TIME
I CALL THIS  PSYCHOGEOGRAPHICAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Whilst the article featured in issue #007 of Offline Journal focussed on his beautiful handmade ‘Little Black Books’, the questions and conversation which informed the piece had a few tangents that, I think, demonstrate the real passion Chris has for photography and his desire for more photographers to stand out from the crowd.

Enjoy listening to our 2-part conversation in the audio segments below.
